LWC Partnership

LWC 1

Partnership with Lord Wandsworth College

St Neot’s Prep School is delighted to have entered into a formal collaboration with Lord Wandsworth College. This is the start of an exciting new chapter in the history of St Neot’s.

The collaboration brings with it a wealth of opportunities for St Neot’s – from the sharing of facilities, to joint staff CPD, the promotion of best teaching practice across both schools, the sharing of coaches and other specialist teachers and in an unsettled world, the financial stability that comes with having a partner school.

The collaboration is already going great guns and bringing with it huge benefit to the pupils at both schools, not least because our values, ethos, vision and aspirations are already so well aligned.

Lord Wandsworth College has always been a popular destination for St Neot’s pupils and with the collaboration comes a fluid pathway from Year 8 at St Neot’s to Year 9 at LWC.

  • What is the reason for the collaboration between Lord Wandsworth College and St Neot’s?

The reason is strategic. The move will strengthen both schools. Of course, this would not have happened had the two schools not already been closely aligned in terms of ethos and educational philosophy (GSGM – Green Space, Grey Matter). Growth, for both schools, is an objective. Growth includes: through school opportunity, pupil numbers, sharing staff expertise and an overall greater depth. LWC will add to its 1200 acre site and St Neot’s will benefit from the huge increase in space, facilities and operational resources available to it.

  • What are the benefits for the pupils of both schools?

For St Neot’s, there will be a simpler entry into LWC at 11+ and 13+ (a significant proportion of St Neot’s pupils transfer to LWC). They will have greater exposure to senior school teachers and greater access to LWC’s first-rate facilities. Also, importantly, each pupil can become better known throughout the entire course of their education, enabling a tailor-made ‘flightpath’ for each one.

For LWC, a valued feeder school will be made secure. LWC will benefit from the use of St Neot’s outstanding outdoor space for activities such as camping, mountain biking, D of E, as well as sports facilities for matches.

  • Will St Neot’s parents be able to choose a senior school other than LWC?

Absolutely. There will be no pressure whatsoever on the St Neot’s parents to choose LWC.

St Neot’s will continue to give objective individual advice on the most suitable senior school for each child.

  • Will St Neot’s retain its name and uniform?

    Yes & yes.

  • Will this move impact fees at either school?

There are no planned changes to school fees at either school as a result of this move.

  • Will St Neot’s retain a level of autonomy?

Yes. St Neot’s will have its own management team and will continue to create and deliver their own curriculum. However, it is envisaged that both schools will benefit from a close collaboration in teaching and learning best practices. St Neot’s will retain its own Head, who will be overseen and mentored by the Head of LWC.
