Talented pianists entertain parents and staff

Piano_0006
On Thursday evening parents were treated to a piano recital, during which fourteen of our talented musicians played a piece of their choice. Parents and staff were treated to an eclectic mix of genres, from 'Mary had a Little Lamb’ to 'Hallelujah'. The children ranged from complete beginners to Grade 4 pianists. They were a credit to themselves, gave confident performances, and everyone had a most enjoyable time!

The Aliens are coming!

Y2-Sun_0003
Year 2 have been continuing with their space topic by thinking about Aliens! They looked at the book 'Here Come the Aliens!' and then wrote their own version using their own rhyming words. The children also had a session with Mr Hucklesby and his amazing telescope and enjoyed looking at live images of the sun which were being captured by a special camera using a solar filter. The children are all in agreement that through a telescope the sun looks rather like an orange!

Autumn Week 8

Sport_0002
It has been a fantastic first week back from our half term holidays, with lots of successful matches taking place. The girls in years 5-8 did especially well, securing four wins and a draw from their six fixtures against Yateley Manor. Highlights included a superb 6-0 win for the first team, including a hat trick from Zoe C, and a thrilling 4-3 win for the U10As with a hat trick from Molly F.

There were also some great results for the boys. The 2nd XI continued their strong season, winning convincingly against Daneshill 5-1, whilst the Colts B came out 1-0 winners in a hard fought match in very muddy conditions.

We will remember them

Remembrance_0001
This week we have remembered those servicemen and women, who lost their lives fighting for their country. The children have been discussing the meaning of Remembrance and participating in various activities to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of WW1. Pupils have been painting images of remembrance on pebbles, which have then been placed around the school. Year 8 children also arranged a charity football match to commemorate the match between England and Germany, which took place on Christmas Day 1914. Lessons have centred around what remembrance truly means to us all. Year 8 held a special centenary remembrance service in memory of those soldiers who gave their lives for our freedom. Our special guest, Mrs Carpenter, discussed some of the former St. Neot’s students who were in the First and Second World Wars, and our Head Boys and Girls paid tribute to the fallen by laying wreaths and poppies in their honour. The Head pupils will also be representing St. Neot’s at Eversley Church’s Remembrance Service on Sunday.
