Making sense of nature in Outdoor Learning

In their Outdoor Learning Lessons, children from Years 3, 4 and 5 have been sharpening up their senses by taking part in various 'Nature Awareness' activities around the school grounds. Year 3 children made clay tree spirits and goblin villages, pupils in year 4 made leaf plaques from the wide variety of trees which surround Roses and year 5 went on a scavenger hunt around the school grounds before creating some beautiful ephemeral art inspired by Andy Goldsworthy.

Talented pianists entertain parents and staff

On Thursday evening parents were treated to a piano recital, during which fourteen of our talented musicians played a piece of their choice. Parents and staff were treated to an eclectic mix of genres, from 'Mary had a Little Lamb’ to 'Hallelujah'. The children ranged from complete beginners to Grade 4 pianists. They were a credit to themselves, gave confident performances, and everyone had a most enjoyable time!

The Aliens are coming!

Year 2 have been continuing with their space topic by thinking about Aliens! They looked at the book 'Here Come the Aliens!' and then wrote their own version using their own rhyming words. The children also had a session with Mr Hucklesby and his amazing telescope and enjoyed looking at live images of the sun which were being captured by a special camera using a solar filter. The children are all in agreement that through a telescope the sun looks rather like an orange!

Autumn Week 8

It has been a fantastic first week back from our half term holidays, with lots of successful matches taking place. The girls in years 5-8 did especially well, securing four wins and a draw from their six fixtures against Yateley Manor. Highlights included a superb 6-0 win for the first team, including a hat trick from Zoe C, and a thrilling 4-3 win for the U10As with a hat trick from Molly F.

There were also some great results for the boys. The 2nd XI continued their strong season, winning convincingly against Daneshill 5-1, whilst the Colts B came out 1-0 winners in a hard fought match in very muddy conditions.
