Year 3 Tudor Residential

Our Lords and Ladies (aka Year 3!) have just returned from a splendid visit to Ufton Court Manor, where they stepped back in time to 1599. The young courtiers were treated to a fabulous Tudor banquet, with dancing and much feasting on locally grown produce and the newly discovered potato! And just by chance, they were also invited to join the crew of Sir Francis Drake, circumnavigating the world from 1577-1580. How time flies when you’re having fun!A truly fabulous residential…inspiring and atmospheric, captivating the drama of the Tudor era. Such memories and knowledge that will undoubtedly stay with the children for years to come!

Autumn Week 10

There were lots of awards to catch up on this week and it was great to see so many children acknowledged for various things around the school. Oscar B-K was a Citizen of the Week for being a thoughtful and considerate young man, Saffi and Charlie G were awarded for always being respectful and considerate of others, Ted is a supportive classmate, always happy to celebrate everyone’s success, Ollie W was recognised for being helpful and sensible in maths and finally, Lexi N and Poppy were made Citizens of the week for their positive attitude around the school. Autumn Week 10

It has been a fantastic week of sport as the cold weather sets in. The U9A girls went to the Yateley Manor hockey tournament yesterday and performed incredibly well against strong opposition. For some of the girls it was their first tournament, but they acquitted themselves superbly and managed to finish runners up. Well done girls, a great achievement! We also had a brilliant house swimming gala for years 5 and 6 yesterday, and are delighted to say that there were four school records broken. Charlotte S broke the year 6 girls’ front crawl record; Alex T the year 5 boys’ butterfly record, Hetty W the year 5 girls’ front crawl record; and Lois P the year 5 girls’ backstroke record. Well done to all who took part.Next week we have our first set of rugby fixtures for boys in years 3-8. There are slight alterations from the calendar to our fixtures on Wednesday against Brockhurst and Holme Grange. All fixtures now start at 2.15, not 2.30. In addition, the U13, U11B and U10A are now at home, whilst the U12, U11A and U10B are now playing at Holme Grange. Next week also sees the last hockey fixtures for girls in years 5-8, as they change to netball on Thursday 29th November. Girls in years 3 and 4 are changing to netball on Monday 26th. Girls are able to wear gloves when playing outdoors, provided they are ‘gripped’. Looking ahead, we have the year 3 and 4 house swimming gala on Thursday 29th November, whilst the year 7 and 8 gala is on Thursday 6th December. Our inter-house cross country for years 3-8 takes place on Monday 3rd December, and information about this regarding distances and routes is up on the sports noticeboard.

A magical Christmas experience for Year 8

On Thursday 22nd November, Year 8 were fortunate enough to visit Warner Brothers studio in Watford. During our visit we had a special VIP guided tour, took part in a lesson delivered by one of the Harry Potter education specialists and explored some of the costumes and props that were used in the making of the films. Miss Regent held Dolores Umbridge’s iconic pink suit up against her for a photo! Maisie S said that her personal highlight was ‘riding on a broomstick’ and Ben J added that his favourite part was ‘walking around the detailed model of Hogwarts School; especially as it was covered in snow ready for Christmas!’
