The Lion King

Lion-King_0025
What a "ROARsome" week it has been for the cast and crew of The Lion King! The lions have been roaring, the gazelles leaping, the hyenas laughing and the birds a-tweeting about all the happenings of this spectacular musical.Parents, staff, friends and family alike have been treated to three amazing evening performances. All the pupils involved in the show have been working incredibly hard and with amazing talent and enthusiasm, which has shone through on stage from curtain up to curtain down every night. (Not to mention the two performances to Pre-Prep and Main School on Tuesday!)Audiences have been buzzing about what they have seen: the talent of the pupils, the colour, the music, the voices, the acting, the singing, the dancing, the costumes, the giraffes, the cheetahs, the ELEPHANT! All being brought to life by the outstanding work of all those involved in the show.It is truly a privilege to see the pupils and staff at this school working together to create something that we will all remember for a very long time. It has been a fantastic journey putting this project together. Thank you again to all involved and remember HAKUNA MATATA!

Early Years children impress with their dazzling performance

EYFS-Concert_0014
On Tuesday the Early Years children performed a spectacular spring concert for their parents and the children in Pre-Prep. They dressed in their best costumes, from cows to bumblebees, and sang an array of sunny songs. It was wonderful to watch Tiny Tuskers, Tuskers and Reception children singing so beautifully. The children (and teachers) have been practising very hard, which showed during the performance. Well done children, you continue to impress us with your confidence and dazzling smiles!

Year 8 Geography Field Trip

Y8-Geog_0010
On Tuesday, Year 8 went out into the field to study rivers, aiming to check whether the theory they had learnt in class would be matched in reality. The pupils were collecting data which they will write up as an assessed piece of work, which will go towards their PSB Geography grade. This grade will provide a representation of how they have worked towards the six learning skills, as well as academic content over Years 7 and 8.The children went to three locations on the River Tillingbourne, near Dorking, to collect data on how the river changes downstream. They collaborated in groups of five, to measure the channel depth, width, velocity of the river, how fast an item was travelling on the river surface and the slope angle of the river. They all had the opportunity to use the different equipment and record their results. All the children enjoyed the experience of getting ‘hands on’ in the water. Hopefully plenty was learned but also there was lots of enjoyment! The boys had a running race in the water, whilst a couple of the girls fell over in the water, but were able to laugh at themselves. They had experienced that ‘awkward moment’, which was the theme of 6SE’s assembly on Monday. Now comes the next stage of writing up their results and evaluating the methods they used on the day. All of the children enjoyed the learning experience and had plenty of fun. A good day for everyone, pupils and staff alike.
