The boys and girls in Years 5-8 produced an incredible set of results on Wednesday. The boys played against St George’s in their hockey fixtures, winning 7 out of 8 matches. The girls in Years 5-8 also played superbly, winning all their matches against Holme Grange and Cranford House. Spring Week 8 http://www.stneotsprep.co.uk/news-blogs/entry/spring-week-8-1-4 http://www.stneotsprep.co.uk/news-blogs/entry/spring-week-8-1-4 It has been another fantastic week of sport at St Neot’s and following on from our victory at Ludgrove last week, we have had more success from our cross country runners. On Thursday selected pupils in years 7&8 ran in the Hampshire cross country championships at Down Grange. Against stiff competition, Charlie J and Mia F ran superbly to come fourth, whilst Oscar B also ran well to finish sixth. All three of these have been selected to run in the national championships following their excellent performances!!We also hosted our own annual cross country event on Thursday afternoon, featuring 14 schools and over 350 pupils. We had 36 runners from St Neot’s and all of the pupils ran their hardest in challenging conditions. Congratulations to St Andrew’s who won the overall competition. The netball season also continues to be in full swing, and on Friday we hosted an under 9 netball festival, with 10 competing teams. The girls were excited to be part of our home tournament and played some superb netball. Their practice both in lessons, after school club and lunch time clubs paid off greatly and it was clear just how much progress all of the girls have made. Both the A and B teams played the festival with some fantastic wins. The A team won all but one game with impressive score lines. Their one defeat against local rival, Yateley Manor, (5-7) was unfortunate, but with a little defensive work a win is in sight. Taylor NC was voted player of the tournament for her brilliant dodging and attacking play, scoring many goals. Clara Rose and Heidi linked brilliantly in the centre court and Grace must be mentioned for her many well-timed interceptions in defence. This was a real team effort from all of the girls. The B team also demonstrated excellent team work, with Martha seemingly unable to miss the goal as shooter! Nina flew around the court with great agility and Safia C was voted girl of the tournament for her defensive skill. This was a super event that could not have operated so smoothly without the help of both Mia F and Lucy C in year 7. Thank you to both girls! At the weekend Art and Austin H competed in the IAPS National championships. Both boys performed brilliantly, with Austin finishing 4th and Art picking up a bronze medal in their respective weight categories. Well done boys!Next week sees the first hockey matches for the boys this year, and they are raring to go after some great training sessions. We also have our annual pre-prep fun run, and the IAPs regional qualifiers at Crosfields, for which we wish our swimmers the best of luck!]]> administrator@st-neots-prep.co.uk (admin) Coaches' Corner Tue, 12 Mar 2019 17:02:42 +0000 Spring Week 5 http://www.stneotsprep.co.uk/news-blogs/entry/spring-week-5-1-5 http://www.stneotsprep.co.uk/news-blogs/entry/spring-week-5-1-5 The year 3 girls have had a great start to their netballing life at St Neot’s and competed in a festival at Yateley Manor last week. The girls performed amazingly as a team and although there were no winners as it was just a festival, the girls would have been first or second if there had been. The junior boys had their last rugby matches of the season on Friday and finished in style, with four wins out of four. The final rugby matches for the boys in years 5-8 take place this Wednesday against LVS & Reddam. All boys will be moving to hockey after half term and will need mouth guards, shin pads and hockey sticks in school (the school does have some hockey sticks but we recommend pupils getting their own).We have also been getting ready for the cricket season after the Easter break and had an extra bowling session during first break on Tuesday, for which 40 pupils in years 3&4 turned up, keen to work on and improve their bowling actions. We are pleased to announce that we have set up a multiskills classroom on Google Classroom for the children to try out at home. Mr Smith talked about this in assembly on Friday and showed the children how they could join the classroom. The following steps highlight the process of how to join:Log into Google with your school gmail accountGo to ClassroomClick the plus sign to join a new classEnter the class code c6ctqmIn addition, Olivia G (our girl’s sports captain) ably demonstrated some of the challenges the children can do. We would love to hear about the challenges that children have attempted themselves and about their progress and successes. The class code is c6ctqm.Finally, house rugby for pupils in years 5-8 has been rearranged to this week. Years 3&4 is still on the last day of half term. All boys and girls will need their mouth guards in school to participate. We hope everyone has a fantastic last week and an enjoyable, sport-filled break over half term.]]> administrator@st-neots-prep.co.uk (admin) Coaches' Corner Mon, 11 Feb 2019 09:49:29 +0000
